Before Man: The Jinn War

 

Before humans, Allah have created other beings. Two of which are named in the Quran- Jinn & Angels. So, what are these Jinns? Well, not you blue and cheerful like in Aladdin, Jinn in Islam are made of fire, the top layer of fire that we can’t see. Therefore, we are also unable to see the Jinns. They also have free will just like humans and can defy God.

Allah created these Jinns from fire and sent them to Earth to live. These Jinns were granted powers from Allah, they can fly, can shape shift, they have really long lives etc. They were able to fly to heaven and could listen to the angels, but they can’t anymore. After the incident of Iblees.

As Allah says in Surah As-Saffat:

“And to guard against every rebellious Shaytan. They cannot listen to the higher group for they are pelted from every side. Outcast, and theirs is a constant torment. Except such as snatch away something by stealing, and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness.”

Who is Ibless? A Jinn who was granted a place in the gathering of Angels because of his worships. There isn’t any place on Heavens, but Iblees had gone there and worshipped God. He will later become the Shaytan for his defiance. But we will talk about this in another post.

Coming back to Jinns, so just like humans, Jinns were also divided into two different groups. The Saliheen, the good Jinns and the Mutamarrideen, the evil Jinns.

Jinns are described as beings with really hot temper, because they are created from fire. This meant that Jinns were in constant wars with each other.

Just like humans, there were also Jinn Prophets, Allah sent them between the Jinns to call towards Allah and stop spreading corruption. But the Jinns slaughtered these Prophets of God. They spread so much corruption and war around the Earth that Allah ordered the Angels to slaughter the Jinns, the Mutamarrideen, the ones spreading corruption on the Earth.

So, this group of Angels were to come Earth and kill the corrupted Jinns and Iblees asked permission to go with the Angels, to kill these corrupted Jinns who were just out of control. They slaughtered these corrupted Jinns and left some of them alive from whom the progeny of Jinn will continue.

After this, the Angels returned to heavens, and with them Iblees. Now, Allah reveals to the angels, that He is about a make Khalifah, or a leader, of the Earth. Now, when Allah said this, Iblees got very happy. He knew the Angels were not going to be made the Khalifah. He thought that Allah is going to make a Khalifah from the Jinns.

But Allah’s decision was not to make a Khalifah from the Jinns, but He is going to create a new creation (Humans) who will be the Khalifah.

This shocked Iblees, because after all these years of worshipping Allah, Iblees wanted power, he wanted prestige, he wanted to be in charge of the Earth but his hopes is now being crushed by this new creation.

Who is this new creation? Adam (Peace Be Upon Him).
